Speakers
Associate Professor of Medicine

I am a practicing physician, researcher, and educator at Duke Health. I work with patients to help them overcome tobacco dependence. Additionally, I am the medical director of the Duke Center for Smoking Cessation, a research center, director of the Duke Smoking Cessation Program, a network of clinics providing specialized treatment for tobacco dependence, and co-director of the Duke-UNC Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training Program, a training program for tobacco dependence providers. My work has a lot of diversity. One week I may be focusing on a new research study on a medication treatment. The next week I may be sharing research findings with tobacco treatment colleagues or students in our training program.
Physician Assistant
Duke Smoking Cessation Program
I provide inpatient and outpatient tobacco use treatment. I was born and grew up in a small town outside of Rochester, New York. I have a background in primary care and previously worked in primary care, where I offered tobacco cessation services for over two years. Now, I work with patients with cancer or HIV who often need treatment tailored to their specific medical and behavioral needs. I enjoy working with these patients because I feel I am able to make smoking cessation more attainable. Outside of work, I enjoy playing board games, going to concerts, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends. I am excited to be able to help people in multiple different settings with smoking cessation.
