Position Highlights & Primary Responsibilities:
The APC Lead is a member of the leadership team who provides direction and support to the regional team of APC’s while serving as liaison from the team to their Optum medical director. They work closely with the Operations team and Medical Director to ensure high quality care is delivered.
The APC lead embodies the mission and values of the care delivery organization. The APC lead helps with implementation of process improvements. The APC Lead continues to have clinical responsibilities in addition to their administrative role (Admin: approximately 4 hrs/week)
Leadership Responsibilities
1. Personal Excellence: Provides excellent diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients according to current standards of care utilizing best practices recommendation. Works collaboratively with the patient to provide a Patient Centered approach to care; adhering to the organization’s Value-based-care mission. Utilizes evidence-based care processes for cost effective and efficient use of lab, radiology and extended service providers including specialists, hospitals, skilled nursing providers and other ancillary services.
2. Performance: Works with the medical directors to ensure full communication and implementation of organization-specific initiatives including QBC, NPS, STAR, HEDIS. Ensures quality indicators are being met and continuously improved by working with CDO leadership.
3. Works with Operations team to support regular meetings and ensures regular attendance of APC’s in market. Partners with Operations leadership to ensure the success of the team. Promotes high quality medical care and efficient workflows with team. Works with medical directors to make necessary workflow changes to decrease tasking burden and increase provider satisfaction.
4. Culture: Ensure the development and promotion of the organization’s culture in team members. Partners with Operations leadership to ensure the success of the team. Develops and promotes organization’s culture in team members.
5. Participates in Clinical Leadership Board attending monthly meetings. Prepares and delivers presentation to the CLB quarterly.
6. Organize and lead Optum Colorado APC Council with the help of Council Co-Chair. Develop agendas, organize activities, and distribute minutes of meetings. Assign Council Members to mentor new APC hires as appropriate.
7. Coordinate Local APC Mentorship Program, including mentoring new APC Council members.
8. Organize, promote and lead quarterly Optum Colorado APC Chapter meetings. Develop agendas, coordinate speakers/educators, schedule and promote “Skills Clinics” on various topics as requested by Optum Colorado APCs. Reports to and meets regularly with the Senior Medical Director. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Active unrestricted APRN or PA License in Colorado
- Prescribing authority or ability to obtain prior to employment
- DEA license or ability to obtain prior to employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as an NP or PA, unless you completed clinical rotations with New West Physicians
The salary range for this role is $104,500 to $156,000 per year. Salary Range is defined as total cash compensation at target. The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
